Prajna Curriculum

Our 8-week comprehensive design thinking and ethics curriculum, crafted for underprivileged communities. Each week focuses on practical learning outcomes and real-world problem-solving.

Week 1: Introduction to Design Thinking & Empathy

Concepts Covered

  • What is Design Thinking
  • Human-centered approach
  • The 5 simple steps (Feel, Find, Think, Make, Try)
  • Understanding feelings and empathy

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Children will be able to explain what Design Thinking is in simple terms
  • Children will understand that problem-solving starts by thinking about people
  • Children will practice observing and listening to understand others' needs
Week 2: Define: Finding the Challenge

Concepts Covered

  • Synthesizing empathy into a problem
  • Crafting 'How Can We Help?' questions
  • Community challenges & local problems
  • Identifying who needs help (stakeholders)

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Children will be able to identify a core problem from observations
  • Children will be able to rephrase problems into 'How Can We Help?' questions
  • Children will select one community challenge for their project
Week 3: Ideation & Ethics in Design

Concepts Covered

  • Brainstorming techniques
  • Generating a wide range of solutions
  • Understanding 'being fair' and 'kind'
  • Evaluating ideas for positive/negative impact

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Children will be able to generate multiple ideas (including silly ones)
  • Children will learn to build on each other's ideas
  • Children will be able to evaluate if their ideas are kind and fair to others
Week 4: Prototyping & Initial Testing

Concepts Covered

  • Purpose of making a model
  • Creating simple, low-fidelity prototypes
  • How to give and receive feedback
  • Sharing ideas constructively

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Children will be able to create a basic, low-fidelity model of their solution
  • Children will learn how to present their ideas clearly
  • Children will practice giving constructive feedback using 'I like, I wonder, I wish'
Week 5: User Testing & Iteration

Concepts Covered

  • How to try out models with users
  • Observing user interactions
  • Analyzing feedback systematically
  • Deciding what changes to make

  • Children will understand the purpose of testing their solutions
  • Children will practice observing how others interact with their models
  • Children will identify key areas for improving their ideas
Week 6: Refining Prototypes & Deep Dive into Ethics

  • Making good choices in ethical dilemmas

  • Children will understand the concept of responsibility

Week 7: Communication & Planning for Impact

  • How to tell a clear project story
  • Presenting ideas to others
  • How ideas can help for a long time
  • Identifying community helpers and supporters

  • Children will be able to structure a simple story about their project
  • Children will practice presenting their ideas clearly and confidently
  • Children will identify potential helpers in their community
Week 8: Project Showcase & Reflection

  • Finalizing projects
  • Practicing presentations
  • Community Heroes Showcase
  • Reflecting on learning journey

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Children will present their Design Thinking projects to an audience
  • Children will articulate their problem-solving process and solution
  • Children will reflect on their learning and their role as 'community heroes'
